Animals at Night

Animals at Night

Author: Melvin and Gilda Berger
Genre: Non-Fiction
Grade: Kindergarten and up

This book is about the different kind of animals who are awake at night. First, it talks about the owl. The owls are awake at night and sleep in the day. They have eyes that see in the dark and that is when they look for their prey and eat. Another animal mentioned would be a beaver. A beaver swims and also hunts at night for their food. They build their own house by collecting sticks. The rest of the book talks about other different animals or critters that are awake at night. It ends with a drawing of a kid in his bed and says now it is your time to wake up.

This is a very informative books of animals, not only their characteristics but also interesting facts. This book is easy to read especially for kindergarteners and the book mostly contains pictures and small paragraphs. It is very specific and straightforward. I find the ending unique and matches with the title because it feels like when reading it you are awake at night and it matches with the ending how it is your time to wake up. I will definitely read this aloud to my class because it is informative and a nice story.
