Silly Ghosts

Silly Ghosts

Author: Janet Lawler
Illustrator: Anna Chambers
Engineering by: Yevgeniya Yeretskaya
Genre: Fiction, Pop-up book
Grade: Pre-K and up

This is a Halloween pop-up book about ghosts. The silly ghosts pop out at night and they are looking for something or someone. Either a place to hide or to hunt, they are either searching for a party or a feast. The silly ghosts blow out candles that are lit and they play spooky games. They are looking for a special kid and now that they have seen you, they hope you will share with them a Happy Halloween.

This is a great pop-up book to share to the students in Halloween. I will not let the lower grade level touch this for it is delicate. I will prefer the 3rd grade students and up to handle it with care than the Pre-k students. This pop-up book is really simple and colorful. The silly ghosts of course pop out of the book and that there are parts that you pull a paper handle and the picture in the book disappears which is unique. I will definitely show this to my students near or during Halloween so that they will enjoy it. It is very appropriate to students and it is not scary at all.

Red Sings from Treetops a year in color

Red Sings from Treetops a year in colors Author: Joyce Sidman Illustrator: Pamela Zagarenski Genre: Poetry Ages or Grade: 3 rd – 5 th grade This book makes colors alive like human beings. It describes the colors having qualities and bringing them into life. This poem book goes over the four seasons which is spring, fall, winter, and summer. Red Sings from Treetops illustrations are really well illustrated because it gives the feeling of actually being in that particular season. This book is great to read to my students because they will imagine and view colors as persons and each colors have amazing unique qualities. My students can also be more aware and appreciative of colors all around us. This poem book is more for a 3 rd through 5 th grade students due to the length of the sentences and understanding. Since the illustrations looks like paper art, I will have the students do their piece of art that is based on their favorite seasons.
